About Us | Local Motion Productions

A New Chapter, Built on a Shared Love of Figure Skating

At Local Motion Productions, figure skating isn't just our business. It's part of our family's story.

Our journey began long before we became professional figure skating photographers and videographers. As skating parents, we spent years watching our daughter compete, cheering her on from the stands, and purchasing the photos that captured those special moments. Some of those treasured photographs came from Local Motion Productions, a company we knew and appreciated long before we ever imagined owning it.

In 2011, we founded MKT Photography & Events, building a business around our love of photography, videography, and the figure skating community. Over the years, we grew from a small photography business into a nationwide event production company, traveling across the country to capture competitions and create lasting memories for skaters and their families.

In 2026, our story came full circle when we had the opportunity to purchase Local Motion Productions, a company with a 30-year history of serving the figure skating community. It was an exciting opportunity to bring together two businesses that share the same passion for the sport and the families who make it so special.

Today, we're proud to be transitioning MKT Photography & Events into the Local Motion Productions name, combining our experienced team, professional equipment, and established relationships with the history and reputation of a company we once knew as customers.

While our name is changing, our commitment to our clients remains the same. We're excited to welcome the clubs, skaters, and families who have trusted Local Motion Productions for decades, while continuing to serve the wonderful communities we've built relationships with through MKT.

Two histories. One team. A shared passion for capturing the moments that matter.

Our Passion for Figure Skating

Figure skating is a sport unlike any other. It combines extraordinary athleticism with artistry, dedication, and emotion. Behind every performance are countless hours of practice, early mornings at the rink, sacrifices made by families, and dreams that deserve to be remembered.

We believe every skater deserves to have those moments captured beautifully, whether they're stepping onto the ice for their first competition or competing at the national level.

Our photographers know how to anticipate the jumps, spins, and expressive moments that make each performance unique. Our videographers understand the importance of capturing the entire program, preserving the performance that skaters have worked so hard to perfect.

We don't just photograph competitions. We preserve the memories, milestones, and accomplishments that make the journey worthwhile.

Professional Equipment. Experienced People.

We invest in professional equipment to provide the quality our clients deserve.

Our photography team uses professional Canon camera systems, while our videography team uses professional Sony and Panasonic cameras and multi-camera production systems to capture performances.

Our video production capabilities include custom event graphics, competition introductions, IJS integration, Livestream, Jumbotron management and specialized camera coverage.

But even the best equipment is only as good as the people behind it.

Our team's experience, attention to detail, and genuine love for the sport are what make the difference.
